IGS Directly Contributed to 4 of the VA 2019 Top 10 Accomplishments
The Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization (OEHRM) recently announced the Top 10 Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2019. Of the Top 10 Accomplishments by the OEHRM, IGS software architects, software engineers, database specialists, and other staff, participated in 4 of the Top 10 Accomplishments including Data Migration, Infrastructure Readiness, OEHRM Workforce, and Testing.
IGS staff participated in the top ranked Data Migration effort, which aggregated and migrated over 78 billion records of 23.5 million Veterans, representing the highest priority clinical records required for initial operating capability (IOC) Go-Live, including: vital signs, lab tests, pharmacy fills, outpatient visits, and inpatient admissions. The data was transferred onto large scale portable storage devices with federally approved encryption, and transported with armed security from the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) legacy systems, to Cerner’s data center. VA clinicians will be able to analyze this data using analytical tools available in the new electronic health record (EHR) solution, to make faster and stronger connections between health care and outcomes.
